The OST is the official cumulative record of your Ontario secondary school studies. TGA provides full-time students with an updated official transcript at the end of each academic year. Students do not receive a separate diploma after each grade.
Completing Grade 12 courses alone does not establish diploma eligibility. TGA reviews your record and identifies your remaining requirements in an individual completion plan.
The financial literacy graduation requirement applies to students who began Grade 9 in 2025–2026 or later and takes effect in 2026–2027 through Grade 10 Career Studies, subject to applicable exemptions. Review Ontario’s graduation requirements and financial literacy guidance.
Course selection supports your intended applications. Postsecondary admission remains subject to the receiving institution’s prerequisites, grades, language requirements, and other criteria.
Build a shared academic foundation, explore interests, and prepare for senior courses. These example timetables can be adjusted following academic advising.
Eight credits. French placement reflects prior instruction; FSF1O is an introductory option for students with limited previous French learning.
Five shared credits, including two half-credit courses. Add three one-credit electives below for an eight-credit year.
Flexible course combinations help you plan for future studies. All three pathways lead toward the same OSSD. Eight credits in each of Grades 9, 10, and 11, followed by six in Grade 12, make a four-year total of 30 credits.
These are suggested timetables. Previous credits, prerequisites, language needs, graduation requirements, and intended postsecondary programs may change your plan. TGA reviews your goals and confirms appropriate placement.
Biology, senior computer engineering, design, or other courses may be considered according to the specific field and admission requirements.
Senior mathematics or science courses can be added when required for a specific program, including some economics and psychology programs.
This example includes Calculus and Vectors. Physics, Nutrition and Health, or Mathematics of Data Management may be considered according to the intended program. Course selection does not guarantee admission to a health sciences or professional program.
Explore the program catalogue, expand a course for credits and prerequisites, then visit its page for details and enrolment. Confirm current availability and your individual placement with admissions.
Joining from another province or country? Previous secondary studies may count toward your OSSD. The equivalency component of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) evaluates previous credentials and learning. The principal determines credit equivalency, placement, and remaining diploma requirements.

Your plan identifies remaining compulsory and optional credits, prerequisites, and other graduation requirements.
04
Follow your approved plan and review progress with TGA.
For example, a student who completed secondary studies overseas can submit their records for review. TGA determines which courses and other requirements remain. Completing a particular grade does not guarantee a fixed credit award. See Ontario’s student transfer and equivalency policy.
